About
Wes Gibson is a former US Navy Chief Photographer and photographic quality expert. Having spent 20 years on active duty, he has traveled around the world many times over, documenting life at sea in peacetime as well as during times of conflict. His keen eye, attention to detail and willingness to take his camera into harm’s way has produced thousands of dynamic, eye catching ground and aerial images for the Department of Defense.
An accomplished photo instructor and Master Trainer, Wes taught his basic and advanced techniques in color and illustrative photography, photojournalism, and portraiture at the US Naval Schools of Photography. During his six years in front of the classroom, over 800 new and seasoned military photographers attended his courses, taking his techniques back to the Fleet.
In addition to photography, Wes is well versed in graphic arts. He has designed, edited and published several award winning book projects and has held the position of Photo Editor on military newspaper staffs. His knowledge of composition, color space and visual impact has proven invaluable in the production of creative print media and web design.
After leaving the military in 2000, Wes has concentrated more on the enjoyment of his photography rather than making a living at it. He volunteers his talent when the occasional situation arises, but otherwise shoots whatever catches his eye.
